Case Study: San Diego Rolfing - Client Testimonial
Client: San Diego Rolfing
Project: Client Testimonial Video
Deliverable: A story-driven testimonial following a client’s journey.
Use Cases: Website and social media
Overview
San Diego Rolfing partnered with WaveMark Media to produce a client testimonial video that could speak directly to a viewer who had never heard of Rolfing.
The subject is Bill, a 75-year-old La Jolla resident who had just completed the full Rolfing Ten Series. Over the course of a single sit-down interview, Bill shares what it felt like to watch his body start failing him. And what it felt like when all of that began to change.
The goal was to produce an authentic, emotionally resonant piece that introduces Rolfing to new audiences while giving San Diego Rolfing a compelling asset to use across their website and social platforms for years to come.
Objectives
Introduce Rolfing Structural Integration to viewers with no prior knowledge of the practice
Build trust through an honest, unscripted client story
Follow a clear before, during, and after narrative arc that mirrors the Ten Series journey
Create a versatile evergreen asset optimized for both website and social media use
Position San Diego Rolfing as the solution for viewers dealing with chronic pain, limited mobility, or declining physical confidence
Pre-Production & Planning
Pre-production focused on building a framework that would draw out a genuine, story-driven performance without scripting or over-preparing the interview subject.
We developed a custom interview prep guide structured around six core questions. Moving from personal introduction through the before state, the bridge from skepticism to decision, the experience of the Ten Series, and the after state, closing with a direct recommendation to camera. The framework was designed to be conducted conversationally on shoot day, keeping Bill's answers natural and unguarded rather than rehearsed.
We also identified the key narrative beats the edit would need to land: the emotional stakes of aging and physical decline, the discovery of Rolfing, the specific physical shifts Bill noticed during the series, and the transformation in his confidence, energy, and quality of life by the end of the Ten Series.
Production
Production took place across two days.
The primary shoot was a sit-down interview conducted on location, giving Bill the space and time to speak openly and at length. Running nearly an hour of raw footage, the interview was intentionally unstructured, allowing the real story to emerge rather than chasing a predetermined script.
A second production day was spent at the La Jolla Open Aire Farmer's Market, where Nick had first introduced Bill to Rolfing through a live demonstration. This B-roll session captured the authentic origin of the client relationship and added visual variety and local grounding to the final edit.
Post-Production
The editorial challenge was to shape nearly an hour of natural, wide-ranging conversation into a focused 3-minute piece that felt both authentic and purposeful.
The edit follows a deliberate before, during, and after arc. The before section establishes Bill's physical reality prior to Rolfing, specific, vivid, and relatable to any viewer who has experienced chronic pain or the quiet frustration of a body that no longer keeps up. The during section captures the specific physical shifts Bill noticed across the Ten Series, including moments of surprise and spontaneous joy. The after section delivers the transformation, improved posture, deeper breathing, better sleep, more energy, and a renewed confidence in his own mobility.
Every editorial decision was made in service of the emotional arc rather than completeness. The goal was a piece that shows rather than tells, trusting specific detail and genuine feeling over explanation.
Color, sound mix, and music selection were all calibrated to support a warm, grounded, and human tone. The final cut was optimized for delivery across the client's website and social media platforms.

Review and Feedback
Here is the Google Review we received from Nick at San Diego Rolfing.
“I hired Kevin Horton of WaveMark Media to produce a testimonial video with one of my clients to use as educational and promotional material for my massage practice.
I have to be honest, Kevin delivered a product well beyond what I was hoping for, and kept it within my budget. I was imagining a simple talking-head testimonial video. Kevin produced a polished, nuanced, story-driven piece with beautiful imagery from my office, neighborhood, and other details to back up the main interview footage. He blended his obvious technical skills with a refined storytelling approach that allowed the heart and soul of my client’s story to emerge.
On top of delivering a fantastic final product, Kevin was also a joy to work with. He is professional, thoughtful, personable, and created a comfortable atmosphere in which my client could open up and tell his story. Kevin walked me through every step of the process before we began so I felt very comfortable and knew what to expect on the day of the shoot.
As a small business owner who plans to be in business in San Diego for years to come I am already looking forward to working with Kevin and WaveMark Media for future filmmaking projects. Thank you!”
